Program Facilitator

Description
As a club facilitator you will be part of a team of energetic and ingenious volunteers that will work together to present fun and innovative STEM (Science, Engineering, Technology, and Math) education workshops (prepped in advance) to a group of 5-25 children in grades 5-8. Facilitators will also provide support to the supervising club Facilitator working in various TAST club locations across Toronto.
Responsibilities
- Assist club facilitator supervisor with program tasks including presenting workshop lectures, facilitating module activities and projects, and help with set-up and clean up of equipment, materials, and class workspace
- Review upcoming module in facilitator and student workbook materials prior to weekly club sessions
- Assist with documentation and maintenance of essential program records such as student registration forms, attendance forms, facility checklists, student feedback surveys, and workshop evaluation forms
- Attend and assist with club participant registration drives, community outreach promotions, field trips, and special events
- Attend mandatory staff meetings and training sessions
- Complete other program tasks assigned by club supervisor
- Support facilitator supervisor with program workshop facilitation including presenting lectures, activities and projects, in addition to, providing engineering, math and tech support to students
Requirements
- University or college graduate or undergraduate studying in the fields of engineering, technology, science, math, art and education
- Solid knowledge base of elementary and secondary school math, physics, chemistry, biology, and computer technology
- Solid reading, writing and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge of internet and Microsoft operating systems including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Works well with a team in a diverse and dynamic work environment
- Excellent problem solving, creative, and leadership skills
- Strong confidence and comfort level with teaching and interacting with children and youth; able to present with great energy, knowledge and enthusiasm to get participants engaged in program activities
- Previous work or volunteer experience in community outreach and a passion education and working with children and youth, especially from high priority or marginalized communities is an asset
- Fluency in languages other than English an asset

Hours and Location
