Public Relations Representative

Description

As a Public Relations officer, you will assist in managing public relations and marketing operations including program promotions, volunteer recruitment, community outreach and public relations, and event planning.

Responsibilities

  • Help in the design and creation of program promotion and volunteer recruitment materials (i.e. pamphlets, flyers, posters etc.), administration of TAST website and social media networks (i.e. blogging), and organizing public relations outreach to local radio and news media
  • Compose, edit and distribute TAST newsletter
  • Collaborate and consult with executive team in development of marketing plan, strategies, in addition to the creation of press kits for various community and organization outreach promotions (i.e. public libraries, schools, community centers, media etc.)
  • Liaise with event planner and photographer team in organization of special event operations
  • Complete other job related tasks and projects assigned by Executive Director

Requirements

  • University or college graduate or undergraduate studying in the field of business, marketing, public relations, or other related fields
  • Solid reading, writing, and communication skills
  • Have interest in engineering, technology, science and math education
  • Previous experience in organizing and managing public relations and social media campaigns is an asset
  • Knowledge of internet, social media networks, and Microsoft operating systems including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Works well within an interdisciplinary team in a diverse and dynamic work environment
  • Excellent organization, creativity, interpersonal and project management skills
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision when required
  • Previous work or volunteer experience in community outreach and a passion for working with children and youth, especially from high priority or marginalized communities is an asset but no required
  • Fluency in languages other than English an asset

Hours and Location

Approx. 4 hours/week; scheduling is flexible. Mostly virtual with staff meetings held in locations across Toronto.
