Description
Web designers are an integral part of our organization. As a web designer, you will be responsible for the creation and update of our website.
Responsibilities
- Develop website contents by collaborating with executive director, graphic artist, and other volunteers
- Upgrade site by continuously updating content and any other images; monitoring the site’s performance and results and identify and evaluate improvement options
- Establishes locatability by registering with search engines
- Writing and editing content, Proofreading and grammar and making changes where necessary
- Designing webpage layout and determining the technical requirement associated with it
- Creating back up files
- Debugging code and re-designing web pages
- Attend meeting and communicate progress and ideas to other volunteers
Requirements
- Working towards a bachelor or diploma in information technology, computer science or other related fields
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS/PHP/Javascript/MySQL
- Previous web design experience is an asset
- Proficiency in the use of Web, graphic design and animation software: Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark, Acrobat, Flash is an asset but not required
- Communicate with a dynamic team of staff
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision and stay committed
- Solid reading, writing, and communication skills
- Knowledge of Microsoft operating systems including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
- Excellent organization, analysis, and problem solving

Hours and Location
Approx. 2-3 hours/week; scheduling is flexible. Mostly virtual.
